Daily PPE Inspection Checklist: Your Safety Starts Here
Purpose: Before starting any work, take a few moments to visually inspect your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This quick check helps ensure your gear is in good condition and will effectively protect you from workplace hazards. If you find any damage or defects, do NOT use the PPE. Report it immediately and replace it as required.
[ ] Hard Hat:

Check the shell for cracks, dents, or discoloration.

Inspect the suspension system for broken straps, loose rivets, or damaged headbands.

Ensure chin straps (if present) are secure and undamaged.
[ ] Safety Glasses/Goggles:

Examine lenses for deep scratches, cracks, or chips that could obstruct vision.

Check frames for cracks, breaks, or bending.
-
Ensure temples/straps are secure and allow for a snug fit.
[ ] Gloves (General Purpose, Work, Welding, etc.):

Inspect for cuts, tears, holes, or worn-through areas.

Check seams for fraying or separation.

For chemical gloves, look for signs of degradation, stiffening, or stickiness.

Ensure they are clean enough not to hinder grip or cause irritation.
[ ] Safety Footwear:

Examine soles for excessive wear, cracks, or loss of slip-resistant tread.

Check uppers for tears, punctures, or separation from the sole.

Inspect laces (if applicable) for fraying or damage.

Ensure the protective toe (if applicable) is not crushed or damaged.
[ ] Hearing Protection (Earplugs/Earmuffs):

Earplugs: Check for cleanliness, damage, or hardening. Ensure they expand properly.

Earmuffs: Inspect ear cushions for cracks, tears, or loss of seal. Check headband for tension and integrity.
[ ] Respiratory Protection (if applicable):

Respirator Body: Check for cracks, tears, holes, or distortion.

Straps: Inspect for breaks, loss of elasticity, or secure attachment.

Valves: Ensure inhalation/exhalation valves are clean, flexible, and seal properly.

Filters/Cartridges: Check for expiration dates, physical damage, clogging, or signs of moisture.
[ ] High-Visibility Clothing:

Check for tears, rips, or excessive wear.

Ensure reflective strips are clean and intact, not peeling or faded.

Verify the garment is clean enough to maintain its high-visibility properties.
[ ] Fall Protection Harness/Lanyard (Visual Check Only - Full Inspection by Qualified Person):

Harness: Quickly check webbing for cuts, fraying, burns, or excessive wear. Inspect buckles and D-rings for damage or deformation.

Lanyard: Check webbing/rope for cuts, fraying, burns. Inspect connectors (carabiners, snap hooks) for damage or proper function. Note: A comprehensive inspection must be performed by a competent person as per regulations.
Important Reminder: This daily visual inspection is a preliminary check. Always follow your company's specific PPE inspection policies and ensure any PPE showing damage or excessive wear is immediately removed from service and replaced. Regular, more in-depth inspections may also be required by a trained supervisor or competent person.
